In response to a loud but minor Denialist movement made up of creatures who don’t understand or believe in science, (many of them also think the world is 6,000 years old and evolution isn’t true either) I’m printing the following from the Union of Concerned Scientists. The Denialists claim they are able to google, but since they can’t even find the tabs on this website explaining global warming, it’s clear they need some help. For everyone who knows about climate change, you can move on to the more recent news. Global warming itself is very old news. It was “discovered” over 100 years ago. Some people have not gotten the message, and this is for them. If this is not enough for them, I can only advise them to read the websites of NASA’s climate change website, NOAA Earth Systems Research (reporting this year that climate change is irreversible for 1,000 years), UNFCCC, the IPCC reports, the National Academy of Sciences, (“Science Academies Urge Faster Response to Climate Change (PDF)“) and the complete papers and reports of 99% of climate scientists including James Hansen.
After that, there is not much anyone can do besides recommend their friends and family plan an intervention. Some people just need more help than we can give them. But we can try, and this is my last attempt. This website is not and never was for the purpose of constantly proving the obvious science of climate change. I assume most people already know about it and recognize it as a serious problem.
If some Denialists still have problems understanding this relatively easy to understand issue, I hope someone else volunteers to try to enlighten them because after the comments today, I have run out of patience. It’s like explaining to little children about gravity. No, it’s more like reasoning with hamsters, and I have better things to do. At some point people will ignore and marginalize the Denialists completely, and since they don’t add anything to the general discussion of how to solve global warming, that is probably the best response and the one they deserve.
Latest Climate Science Underscores Urgent Need to Reduce Heat-trapping Emissions
Major developments in climate change science have been reported since the publication of the comprehensive 2007 Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).[1] Recent publications indicate that the consequences of climate change are already occurring at a faster pace and are of greater magnitude than the climate models used by the IPCC projected. A few of the most compelling findings are summarized below.
