President Obama deserves at least a chance to get things right before Israel and President Bush screws everything up for him with Iran. Bush won’t start a war with Iran, but he will probably support one that Israel starts. And then where would Obama be when he takes office?
In the middle of another very unpopular misguided war.
From Antiwar Radio:
Israel Preparing to Attack Iran Without US Assistance
Posted December 4, 2008
Last week the United States was reported to have warned Israel against launching any attacks against Iran until after President-elect Barack Obama takes office in January. The report came hot on the heels of the Israeli military’s annual security assessment, which urged the nation to quietly work on plans to launch an attack against Iran while trying to prevent the US from reaching any deals with the Iranian government that would undermine Israel’s agenda.
But Israeli military sources are now suggesting that the nation is drawing up plans for an attack on Iran’s civilian nuclear plant that would not require coordination with the US. The officials described such an attack as difficult, but not impossible to execute without American assistance.. . . . “
We have to not be involved or supportive of this in any way.
In many ways I think the only thing that will save what’s left of the U.S. is for us to stop trying to protect Israel and other bad allies and just walk away, telling them they are on their own. Most of their problems are of their own making. Why encourage that?
As for America, most of our problems are of our own making too, allowing government to grow bigger but in all the wrong ways and in all the wrong directions.
Then no more bailouts for large bankers and car companies, which would allow at least parts of our own our system to collapse. At that point, it will be evident that everything has gotten out of control, and we can stop supporting businesses that make archaic, unwanted products, like gas-guzzling SUVs. That means no more bailouts. Then administration will be forced to help the unemployed and uninsured in the U.S. when millions more lose their jobs. Jobs will have to be created for them. The health care industry will collapse after the auto companies are no longer propping it up with their massive costs. That will force the government to step in and take over, finally giving us single payer national health care. I think only a complete collapse at this point will lead to the changes we need, because the capitalists are doing everything in their power to save the system as it is. As they try to save it, they take over more and more control, creating conflicts of interest everywhere. At least there won’t be any more facade that everything is fine and all we have to do is go shopping. Our money will be worthless for awhile after a breakdown in the system anyway.
That would mean less money for the military machine. This may be the only way to end the wars in Afghanistan and where ever else we are engaged at the time. Bases would have to close, soldiers would have to be brought home, and jobs found for all of them. No more giant embassies in countries with oil. We’ll be developing new forms of energy here in the America, developed by Americans, and so we won’t need the wars and the bases and fake enemies. The fraudulent wars will end and so will the march of our Empire Machine.
But that’s just a dream, and it would take a painful collapse. What I’m positive we don’t need is any involvement with Israel’s war-mongering. They need to be on their own, completely, if they are foolish enough to starting bombing yet another one of their neighboring countries. And if they collapse, well, then I guess they deserve it. The horrendous way they have been treating the Palestinians in Gaza does not give them any sympathy on my part if they were to collapse. I’m much more concerned with the people in my own country who need jobs, and not war jobs.
There will never be peace in the Middle East as long as the U.S. keeps interfering by taking sides in everything that happens there, and trying to control oil. Bankruptcies would keep our government busy trying to help Americans, rather than saving Israel from itself.
President Obama needs to not rush to Israel’s rescue when they carry out more inevitable stupidity. He will need to focus on problems here. Let him know that, please, the next time you call the White House to chat.
In addition,
Iranian press covered an interview with the Czech Republic’s foreign minister warning against an Israeli attack on Iran. “The Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg says an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities would ignite an all-out ‘catastrophe’. … ‘A war is only justified in very, very extreme conditions. War is not something that should be easily started and this I mean very seriously.’” (http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=77224§ionid=351020104)
