“The U.S. House of Representatives passed a climate change bill on Friday that would require large companies, including utilities and manufacturers, to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other gases associated with global warming by 17 percent by 2020 and 83 percent by 2050, from 2005 levels.” This is not nearly enough and actually, no, it wasn’t a “climate change” bill, it was a Shell Oil and Exxon and Massey Energy bill. Coal was the big winner.

The US pullout, under a bilateral security accord signed last year, will be completed on Tuesday, which has been declared a national holiday. Party time!

The UN General Assembly was meeting in emergency session Monday to discuss Honduras, after the presidents of the leftist regional grouping ALBA met in neighboring Nicaragua, also with Zelaya, late Sunday.
