• SENATOR: CHENEY LIED TO CONGRESS AND BROKE THE LAW – Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California, told the “FOX News Sunday” program that Panetta testified that “he was told that the vice president had ordered that the program not be briefed to the Congress.”. Feinstein says nondisclosure to Congress is against the law.

  Program reportedly initiated after 9/11 attacks, stopped by CIA Director Panetta. Oddly enough, Leon Panetta said recently that the CIA isn’t in the business of lying to Congress, then stood back and smiled while Nancy Pelosi took the heat for “lying”. Are you reading this, Republicans?

• CHENEY ORDERED CIA TO HIDE SECRET PROGRAM – BBC–July 12–The head of the CIA has accused former US Vice-President Dick Cheney of concealing an intelligence programme from Congress, a top US senator says. The existence of the program, set up after 9/11, was hidden for eight years and even now its nature is not known. Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein confirmed CIA chief Leon Panetta told Congressional committees he had abandoned the project on hearing of it. Does he even know what it was about?
• Cheney Is Linked to Concealment of C.I.A. Project – The Central Intelligence Agency withheld information about a secret counterterrorism program from Congress for eight years on direct orders from former Vice President [sic] Dick Cheney, the agency’s director, Leon E. Panetta, has told the Senate and House intelligence committees, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said Saturday. The report that Mr. Cheney was behind the decision to conceal the still-unidentified program [Cheney's 'executive assassination ring,' revealed by Seymour Hersh?] from Congress deepened the mystery surrounding it, suggesting that the Bush regime had put a high priority on the program and its secrecy.
• The Associated Press: Durbin: Probe possible Cheney concealment – Jul 2009 Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin says Congress should investigate whether former Vice President [sic] Dick Cheney and others in the Bush administration ordered the CIA to conceal the existence of a counterterrorism program [aka executive assassination ring]. Speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Durbin says it may have been an illegal act if such a program was hidden from Congress.
• Swine flu Mass Vaccinations to Start in UK – Swine flu vaccine to be cleared after five-day trial 12 Jul 2009 The path of a popular medicine from the laboratory to the chemist or doctor’s surgery can involve years of clinical trials on a select group of patients. When the new vaccine for swine flu arrives in Britain, regulators said this weekend, it could be approved for use in just five days. Regulators at the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) said the fast-tracked procedure has involved clinical trials of a “mock-up” vaccine similar to the one that will be used for the biggest mass vaccination programme in generations. It will be introduced into the general population while regulators continue to carry out simultaneous clinical trials. The first patients in the queue for the jab – being supplied to the UK by GSK and Baxter Healthcare – may be nervous about side effects. A mass vaccination campaign in America was halted in the 1970s after some people suffered Guillain-Barré syndrome, a disorder of the nervous system.
• Netanyahu: Palestinian recognition of Jewish state ‘key to peace’ – Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu declared Sunday that the recognition by the Palestinians of Israel as a Jewish state was key to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. — Shouldn’t Israel recognize that Palestinian land is not for Israeli settlements?
• Israel-Gaza Conflict Sparks Billboard Battle in Texas – Texans have had occasion this week to witness the eruption of a billboard war waged between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel grassroots organizations vying to tell Houston commuters their side of the story. On Monday, two pro-Israel groups put up two giant roadside billboards bearing the message: “Save Gaza from Hamas. Teach peace, not hate.” Billboards are better than war, and probably even more effective in changing minds.
