- Suicide bombers, gunmen attack east Afghan towns – At least nine people were killed when Taliban guerrillas, including waves of suicide bombers, launched a series of daring attacks in east Afghanistan on Tuesday, officials said, in a clear upsurge of violence.” What’s clear is that this will never end unless someone stops it by ending the funding. This is a war without end. It sure as hell isn’t “change”.
- Swiss minister: Hamas important player in Mideast – “Hamas is an important player in the Middle East conflict that cannot be ignored,” said Calmy-Rey in an interview with NZZ am Sonntag newspaper in Zurich.. . . . The June meeting between the Swiss diplomats and the Hamas delegation outraged the Israeli officials. ” Kind of stating the obvious, but I’m glad someone said it instead of all the labeling BS that’s been going on. The Swiss also met with Hamas, and the wails and roars of outrage of the Neocons can be heard from everywhere.
- Iran’s Hard Liners Slam Rafsanjani – The hard liners are also not happy that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has appointed his son’s father-in-law, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie, as first vice president.
- Seventeenth British soldier killed in Afghanistan this month | World news | guardian.co.uk – A British soldier has been killed while on foot patrol in Afghanistan, the 17th to die this month, the Ministry of Defence said today . The soldier, from the 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, died yesterday morning as a result of the blast in Sangin, in northern Helmand province. This is a complete waste of human life, accomplishing nothing but grief.
- US to “temporarily” add 22,000 troops to army – The US Army will “temporarily” increase its size by 22,000 soldiers for the next three years, Defence Secretary Robert Gates has announced. The additional troops are intended to ease the strain of the US’s deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, Mr Gates said. The extra manpower will raise the total number of active US soldiers from 547,000 to 569,000.” So much for Change You Can Believe In. This is revolting. Our ability to deploy combat brigades — for what? End these wars, President Obama
- Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl May Be in Pakistan – U.S. armed forces are not permitted to operate inside Pakistan except under extreme circumstances. [Well, this would certainly constitute an ‘extreme circumstance”. The US, therefore, would be ‘allowed’ to step up its daily bombing of civilians with killer drones.
