"I know no safe depositary of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power."
--1820 -- Thomas Jefferson

The proposition that the people are the best keepers of their own liberties is not true. They are the worst conceivable, they are no keepers at all; they can neither judge, act, think, or will, as a political body.

The Prosecutor and George Bush

Under Federal Law, Title 18 of U.S. code, section 2B provides:
“Whoever willfully causes an act to be done which if directly performed by him or another would be an offense against the United States, is punishable as a principal.

That means the planner of a murder is prosecutable as the murderer.  Think Charles Manson.  Aside from George Bush’s other crimes against the Constitution and the American people, it’s probable that his indirect killing of so many American soldiers (and so many Iraqis), and his lying about it to Congress and the public, will be his main criminal legacy.

It’s difficult to think of our last president at all, because it was such a relief to be rid of him, but Vincent Bugliosi, possibly the country’s best prosecutor,  is bringing George Bush’s biggest crime back into public view.  Bugliosi wrote a book about prosecuting Bush for murder and now he’s making the book into a documentary.  He hopes to shine some light on this murder case and get attorney and public support so Bush can actually be prosecuted.  Below is the trailer for the movie.

Can Bush be Prosecuted? Many people want to move on and forget George Bush, but our laws have to be upheld or they are meaningless. There is also the matter of some justice for the living veterans who survived several tours of duty in Iraq, both those who are healthy and those who are not.

In The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, Bugliosi presents a tight, meticulously researched legal case that puts George W. Bush on trial in an American courtroom for the murder of nearly 4,000 American soldiers fighting the war in Iraq. Bugliosi sets forth the legal architecture and incontrovertible evidence that puts George W. Bush on trial in an American courtroom for the murder of nearly 5,000 (or more) American soldiers fighting the war in Iraq. Bugliosi sets forth the legal architecture and incontrovertible evidence that President Bush took this nation to war in Iraq under false pretenses—a war that has not only caused the deaths of American soldiers but also over 100,000 innocent Iraqi men, women, and children; cost the United States over one trillion dollars thus far with no end in sight; and alienated many American allies in the Western world.

A searing indictment of the President and his administration, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder also outlines a legally credible pathway to holding our highest government officials accountable for their actions, thereby creating a framework for future occupants of the oval office.

Vincent Bugliosi calls for the United States of America to return to the great nation it once was and can be again. He believes the first step to achieving this goal is to bring those responsible for the war in Iraq to justice.

As a prosecutor who is dedicated to seeking justice, Bugliosi, in his inimitable style, delivers a non-partisan argument, free from party lines and instead based upon hard facts and pure objectivity.

  • Interesting. I am curious to see what comes of this. It would be nice to hold someone accountable for their actions, especially in such a powerful position. That is one of the points of founding this country, or at least I thought. No one is above the law.
