Republican Michele Bachmann is supposed to be my representative in Congress when she’s not on TV talk shows. She keeps forgetting that, though. She recently mailed me the following in her e-newsletter:
House Rushes to Judgment on Health Care Reform
“Congress is expected to vote on Speaker Pelosi’s 2,000-page health care reform bill this week. It is a trillion-dollar, budget-busting, government takeover of our health care system. It will put bureaucrats between people and their health care. It will lead to rationed care, hurting the most vulnerable amongst us first. It will break the bank, leaving our children to pay the bill with diminished freedoms and dwindling prosperity.
I urge the American people to read the bill and know what is in it.”
Yes, American people, by all means read the bill. It contains nothing resembling what she claims.
Does she think she is now representing the entire American population, not the sixth district here in Minnesota, where we need someone more able than her to work for us in Congress? Bachmann is a tunnel-visioned McCarthy on a perpetual witch hunt, and every statement she makes in her latest emails are big, fat lies. It’s all she writes to her constituents anymore. We used to get news and her opinions, but no more. She has stepped it up to become even more infamous. Maybe she’ll even run for president.
She also obsessed with ACORN and can’t stop “investigating” them. That’s her personal witch hunt. But here is the point: Michele Bachmann is a blatant liar. It’s time someone said that. The health care bill will not do what she says. The death panels are the insurance companies who deny insurance to people. The people between me and my doctor are the insurance company employees. It’s not going to threaten our freedoms. The PATRIOT Act, something Bachmann supports, does that just fine. Bachmann needs her head examined. I mean that literally. Get her to a doctor. And make her pay for it, because she’s obviously got a preexisting condition — insanity. After that ridiculous intro, she launches a lie-fest about cap and trade. Cap and trade has its problems, and they are serious, but it’s not going to destroy agriculture. It deliberately leaves agriculture alone.
Michele Bachmann: Stop lying to the people of Minnesota!
The next insanity is directly related to Bachmann’s mindset (and she speaks at their rallies here in MN): The Tea Baggers. Formally named the “tea partiers”, even though they don’t party. They bag innocent Americans into believing their nonsense. I get Tea Party Patriot updates so I can keep an eye on what they are doing. This is from their latest:
Dear Fellow Tea Party Patriot,
As you read this, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are coming together to pass ObamaCare. They may be only a couple weeks from handing total control over health care in America to Barack Obama.
Fortunately, Tea Party Patriots has a plan to make a final push to stop ObamaCare, but our plan can’t be put into action unless you step up TODAY.
[large section begging for lots of money.]
If ObamaCare is signed into law, we will each face long lines, poor-quality and rationing.
The future of the country truly depends on what Americans like you and me do today.
We know we can count on you to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us to stop ObamaCare.
Standing with you for freedom,
How can anyone stand to write such baloney? Only people terrified of good health care, or at least better health care. I wonder if they even know what single-payer means.
Long lines. LIE. Poor quality. LIE. Rationing. LIE.
Rationing and poor quality is what we have now. Do they brainwash these morons to get them to repeat this stuff?
Now, the article that sets all this off:
From The Nation: Tea Party Activists Are the New GOP
Richard Viguerie, the legendary hard-right activist who spent much of the past decade arguing that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were too liberal, now declares that the days of even the most minimal moderation are now over in the Republican Party.
“Tea Party Activists Are the New GOP,” says Viguerie.
… Moderate Republican Dede Scozzafava, the party’s nominee in Tuesday’s special election for an open New York congressional seat, has suspended her campaign. And with that move, the new “new right” — which Viguerie describes as “Tea Party activists, town hall protesters, and conservatives across the country” — can claim a clear victory in its struggle to define the GOP as a far more extreme party than anything envisioned by Bush, Cheney or Gingrich.
Scozzafava, a state legislator, had the Republican ballot line and support from the party apparatus in Washington. But Tea Party and Town Hall activists — and their mentors and funders such as former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas, and the powerful Club for Growth — threw their support behind Doug Hoffman, a more right-wing contender running on the New York Conservative Party line.
Scozzafava took a beating for her support for gay rights and abortion rights, her alliances with organized labor and her sympathy for the plight of the unemployed.
.. . .
it is not just the party of Lincoln or the old “Rockefeller Republicans” that is being broken.
Gingrich and those conservatives who argued for broadening the party’s base have suffered a serious blow.
The GOP is now, as Richard Viguerie says, the party of “the Tea Parties and their candidates.”
The question, of course, is whether a GOP defined by “the Tea Parties and their candidates” can compete not just in New York’s 23rd district — where the party has always won — but across the great expanse of a country where the party has in recent years been losing.
If Viguerie and his compatriots are correct, it is not just the Republican Party but America that is about to take the most rightwing turn in its history.
If Viguerie and his compatriots are wrong, the Grand Old Party could be turning toward a permanent minority status that only the most enthusiastic Democrats dared imagine.”
Moderation is dead! The Republican party is now the Sarah Palin-loving far right wingnuts who will unashamedly put out any lie that fits their goals, which is all about making their lives cheaper and ending their taxes so they don’t have to pay for public schools, roads, police departments, etc. They want everyone else to pay for these things (i.e., Democrats) they don’t want to have to pay for anything. They are greedy, selfish and myopic, and they don’t even know this because they are so blinded by the fog of their own self-interests.
However, this is good for the rest of us, because it guarantees they will never again attain any type of national power. The Tea Baggers think they are a big movement. They are only a very tiny one, and getting more outcast every day. Keep it up, Baggers.

The bill is enormous and confusing, like our tax codes and everything else the government gets their hands on will be run inefficiently.
I recently read in a blog, the link was provided to the actual part of the bill it contained. A provision is included in the bill for spiritual healing, prayer healing…Ok that means someone in the government is going to determine who can pray to heal cancer and get paid for it.
The government is going to screw this up just like they did Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid..Oh and how about fixing the roads that I’ll need to get to the Doctors..Oh yeh that’s in the stimulus bill…
