ST: Thanks for your forum. It's good to be able to stay in touch with news that matters. This escalation has just been devastating to anyone who cares about anything. I ask you, in all sincerity: what good is it for someone to engage in feeding the homeless in Chicago for the cameras with one hand while signing bills escalating death and carnage against people who have never done anything against the people in the USA? What kind of mentality can sign away people's lives and not even care and look at oneself in the mirror after being the cause of their deaths? A lot of people are so upset about what happened at the army base in Texas and who knows if that's even the real story. A convenient scapegoat, maybe. Now, everyone is mad at the accused (not proven guilty) in that case and are unable to recognize cause and effect. It was the endless war which sadists and other cowards who never wore a uniform in their life promote which caused this mess. Arresting the mother who wouldn't abandon her baby on the airfield is another indicator of which way things are going. It's time we all took a good long look at ourselves and asked ourselves what we really believe? How can we support genocide and war for the sake of a few gaining so much mammon? There is enough on the planet for all to have abundant food, clothing and, if we cooperate, energy from tides, sun, wind, etc. There's plenty if we can outgrow the profit thing and deal fairly with people. It could be done and without extreme poverty or wealth for anyone. The more I see if this hateful and malevolent hierarchy, the more sense Cindy Sheehan makes, naysayers notwithstanding. Too bad the sadistic bums who are sending people over there don't have to fight as well. They will sleep in a nice warm bed while others will undergo just about every deprivation you can imagine. Plus, when they get back, if they survive, the public can deal with them as they re-integrate into society and have problems with PTSD, road-rage, anger management issues, etc. These are the people you'll meet in the bank lines, grocery lines, bread lines and hotlines. If something makes them snap, Clint Eastwood's movie plots may become a reality and it will be a little less safe even in the US where the brave automatons are afraid to have swarthy sheepherders in a prison.

I submit that I don't know all the ins and outs of whatever information these people on the Hill have for escalating a war against a people who have nothing to do with what happened on Nine-Eleven. It just seems so wrong to me to escalate this war for any reason. The Russians and British couldn't hack it and neither will the Americans and their allies. Afghanistan is the place that empires go to die. If I remember, Alexander the Great couldn't control it, either. As to the modern empires, you think it has anything to do with wasting people, money and materiel in that very place? Even if you don't care about the people who will continue to die who are caught in the crossfire or friendly fire if Xe has anything to do with it, the economic costs are hardly worth it. It doesn't make sense if it's about oil pipelines. The oil is for sale and if you want it you can ante up and buy it. It makes no difference whether you are their faith or an infidel. Escalating the war will serve to bankrupt the USA and there will be mutually assured damage to both Afghanistan from the military pounding and the US will incur an economic pounding. There is no benefit to anyone other than a select few big businesses for any further hostilities in that country. If you actually do care about human life, especially that of non-Americans, the damage on other counts should be examined. How about the deaths of innocent people who have nothing to do with anything hostile or violent? Do they matter? How about the irreparable damage that will result to the reputation of the USA because of a war of choice? Any escalation in this war of choice will do nothing to help the United States. What it will do is to turn even more people against the country and create a lot of hate, animosity and revenge that will make everyone a little more unsafe. At least the Germans apologized for what they did under Hitler. Is the US big enough to do that? Chicken soup tastes good, but a chickenhawk will make one gag. The world is full of chickenhawks supporting more carnage. There are a lot of John Wayne wannabees out there who never put on a uniform in their life, but want to send others to suffer and die while causing the deaths and suffering of many others. Some say there should be a war tax so there will be shared sacrifice. Does that mean a 1% tax on a chickenhawk's stock portfolio to pay for the war? No. There will be no such tax because the (rich) people will turn against it and legions of their useful idiot teabaggers will come out in opposition to any war tax. Their chickenhawk battle-cry will be 'Support the War! Fight the War! Keep on Going! But, don't ask anyone of us to help pay for it!' They will be willing to keep up the fight until the bad guys are chased off the edge of the earth.
