Did you know there is a formal Iraq War inquiry going on? It’s true, but it’s in England. There’s a lot of news on it there, but not here.
Ever since the war started at the command of George Bush, I’ve wondered when the U.S. would have an Iraq War Inquiry. Last week we were even told that Bush let bin Laden go at Tora Bora, but that was odd, because we already knew that six years ago. So instead of covering real news like what is going on with the Iraq war inquiry in the UK, we get old news like Tora Bora, Sarah Palin news, and Tiger Woods news. That’s about it.
If anyone should be having an Iraq War Inquiry, it’s the United States. But apparently Congress is too busy arguing. Instead, an inquiry has been going on in England now for about six days. They are being really tough with poor old Tony Blair. Their culture is different than in the US; they are allowed to investigate important ex-politicians and other political things, without being assassinated or turning up beaten to death on a dark street somewhere. (Wait a minute, it’s not all that different, come to think of it. See this list of dead scientists. Very notable, the mysterious dead of David Kelly, whose death I didn’t believe was a suicide then and I still don’t.) It’s amazing how many scientists mysteriously died between 2001-2003. Like Saddam himself was in charge!
In any case, the inquiry is continuing this week. Maybe when it’s over, our media will mention it. CNN UK mentioned it.

More reading here and below. It seems Mr. Blair was a very impressionable and young (looking) man when Bush and Cheney started working on him about all that WMD stuff. I remember Blair’s address to our Congress in 2003 and thought it was one of the most naive things I’d ever heard. Bunch of talk about “now is the time” etc, absolute nonsense. I don’t know how the UK stood him as long as they did. Of course now there is Gordon Brown, but at least’s he’s funny (looking).

Just pin down some serious crimes on Bush and Cheney, enough to send them to jail, and we’ll be happy, OK?

The latest Inquiry is probably going to be no more than a chance for people to express their frustrations at what they might see as a needless war hastily entered into for no real reason of self-defense. A lot of people are upset that they or someone they love has been touched by the war and many feel the aftermath of the invasion has been genocide, brutal occupation and manipulating the price of oil to the detriment of everyone by controlling the oil supply there. All these charges are true, in my opinion. However: don’t expect any action to be taken against anyone for anything, no matter how egregious. This is designed to be a pressure valve on a steam cooker. The openly stated purpose of the inquiry said in so many words that no one would be punished because of what was uncovered and discussed there. The strongest that might result in this inquiry is that criticism can be and promised that it would be made against any who had any part in doing bad things in this war. It means that poodle-dog Bliar might be criticized as well as ‘Feel good’ duh-bya for their part in this mess. They might even discuss duh bya sticking his head in the door while his subordinates were supposedly working on a solution to the Iraq mess prior to the war and the christian leader said ‘F— Saddam. We’re takin’ him out!’ None of this will result in any convictions or subpoenas nor will it result in any blue-helmets coming to arrest any of these criminals in the USA and taking them to the Hague to stand trial. I don’t believe Dr. Kelly’s death was a suicide, either. I’d really like to know a lot more about that. Didn’t someone ask Bliar about the questionable death of Kelly at some point while alluding to conspiracy and Bliar turned pale? It might just be a false memory. Whatever they come up with will probably not result in anything other than a semi-blistering report against the actions of the neo-cons and lap-dogs in some of the better UK papers. The NY Times and all that bunch will be too busy writing about Tiger’s girlfriends and party-crashers to worry about that kind of thing. We can all hope, but you must remember that Kissinger the war criminal was present at the Olympics in China last time. He’s supposed to not be able to travel to many countries anymore due to his own genocide in the Far East. China supported Vietnam, Laos, etc. and yet he was there sitting with another war criminal duh bya as they watched the games. These people will never answer for their crimes. Do they even know they did anything wrong?
Do they think they did anything wrong — I think on some level they do, but they don’t care. It’s all about power and America running the world to them. Equality is for the weak.
