After reading these articles, including the one with the triple-amputee who stepped into something in Afghanistan, I'm totally sick. This is worse than cruel. There is no reason to have the mines anywhere. What does it help? Regarding North Korea and South Korea: they have the most heavily guarded border probably in the world. I don't know if this is a case for or against what should be banned weaponry, but NK has been known to dig tunnels in attempts to get into the south of ROK. Several tunnels have been discovered, but there could be more undetected due to dense and rocky underground. They also manage to field spies via water (going around a minefield) and many other imaginative ways. A tunnel makes all else useless. The South Koreans are not standing back while the big, bad 'merkans pertect them. The South Koreans are well-able to handle themselves and I don't know why it's the 'merkans' job to watch over them anyway. They can handle it and if they need help, they would probably ask. There have been incidents in recent years that created an anti-American backlash, such as US soldiers running over and killing 2 schoolgirls and Korean riots on account of them not being prosecuted. People put signs outside restaurants saying that Americans were not welcome there. That's another story. Now all this kow-towing to the chickenhawks. I wish that these chickenhawks could all see up close the results of their policies. That pic you posted was bad enough. I wish that these chickenhawks had to face these victims. Would they even care? What selling-out! I don't understand all this media fawning over how great hope and change was when there is no change except who's speaking in favor of the same policies going forward. Is this the same man who was so graciously helping feed hungry people in front of the cameras after winning the election last year? The man with the thinking (one change) wife who was and may still be busy working with real people who have real problems because of social activism? What good is it to teach people responsibility for anything, such as insisting your children make their own beds, when you don't even have the integrity to stop needless wars and ban cruel weaponry?
